Auditionsjohannes wieland is seeking experienced male and female dancers/performers with strong contemporary/classical technique along with solid partnering and improvisation skills for his international organization. Rehearsals, performances and touring are paid and ongoing commitment begins October 2008.

Auditions are by appointment only on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at The Ailey Studios prior to the final performance of newyou. Dancers should bring a current resume and audition fee of $15. Auditionsjohannes wieland is searching for 100 red haired females for his upcoming premiere of newyou, June 5-8, 2008 at The Ailey Citigroup Theater in New York City. Throughout the past few months, Johannes Wieland’s choreographies have received critical praise in New York and Europe and now, he will delve into the philosophical realm of lies and happiness debuting a brand new evening length work, newyou.

You must have natural or dyed red hair, and/or be willing to dye hair, be 18 years or older, provide your own black dress and black heels, and be available for all rehearsals and performances (see below). You may be asked to speak one line of text into a microphone. Dance skills, training or knowledge are not necessary.

Join us for New York's Second Annual Dance Parade! We are celebrating movement in all its forms with Burning Man Spirit and Love Parade Energy.

On Saturday, May 17, 2008 we will join colorful floats, live bands and DJs to dance in the streets to Salsa, Contra, Disco, Clogging, Ballroom, Irish Step, Hip Hop, Swing, Tango, Ballet, Breakdance, Japanese, Samba and more - over 19 forms demonstrating that Dance is a vibrant, expressive form of art.

YOU CAN:

• Be in the parade as an official group or individual

• Be in the parade informally as a spacer (keeping even distance between floats and groups)

• Be a member of our Dance Police! (giving tickets to people not dancing)

• Get a float with a stage area and mega-audio system to take you down Broadway

• Get a booth at our Dancefest in Tompkins Square Park following the parade

• Help behind the scenes with production and outreach

• Volunteer the day of with check-in, production and clean-up

• Come out and support the dancers as a spectator-participant!

America's Best Dance Crew - Season 2 Auditions Starting NEXT WEEK

Crews must consist of five (5) to seven (7) members, made up of any combination of males and females. All members must be 18 yrs or older by May, 31, 2008.

Here's what to bring to the auditions:

A 1-2 minute (no longer than 2 minutes, no shorter than 1 minute) choreographed routine showcasing your crew's best moves and creativity.
CD of music -- bring a copy to leave with producers (no ipods)

Assistant Director for Dance and Off-Campus Programs

Assistant Director for Dance and Off-Campus Programs (full time)

Responsibilities: The Assistant Director for Dance and Off-Campus Programs is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Dance Department and the Simsmore Square facility of The Hartt School Community Division (HCD). The Assistant Director for Dance and Off-Campus Programs is instrumental in the planning, coordination and execution of all dance department and Simsmore Square activities including, but not limited to, student registration, class and teaching schedules, performances, auditions and other special events.

As the principal liaison for the department, the Assistant Director for Dance and Off-Campus Programs cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, parents and members of the community and works collaboratively with the Chair of the HCD Dance Department and faculty of the The Hartt School BFA program.

The Assistant Director for Dance and Off-Campus Programs supervises a full-time Dance Administrator, the part-time Receptionists at the Handel Center and Simsmore Square and a part-time Special Events Coordinator. The position works closely with the HCD Director and Associate Director to design marketing and promotional plans for the Dance Department and Simsmore Square, assists in the development and oversight of the Dance Department and Simsmore Square budgets in an effort to ensure prudent fiscal management and identifies performance and educational opportunities as well as assists in the development of Dance Department programs as necessary and appropriate.

This position reports to the Associate Director of the Community Division.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree is required. The successful candidate will have three or more years experience as an administrator in the arts and/or other non-profit environment. A thorough understanding of dance and music education processes is preferred. The Assistant Director for Dance and Off-Campus Programs is someone who loves children and has the ability to interact appropriately with students, faculty and parents in every phase of the learning process.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience

The renowned dance department at The Hartt School Community Division carries on the tradition and high quality of the School of the Hartford Ballet, providing a comprehensive training curriculum for children, adults and pre-professional dancers. The department offers year-round classes in many areas of dance interest and ability for ages three and up.
